Sentinel's Armor - Useless?
Hi Gang,
I recently bought 15k Kurzick Sentinel's Armor, I liked the 100 AL, but i'm regreting it now...today i went on a good Old School Troll Farm, without the 13 Strength and...i'm almost ashamed to say it - they shredded me....so i'm missing the +20% against Physical, i guess...so without the 13 Str, Sentinel's sucks...and most of the time i DON'T have 13 Strength.
155k wasted, i guess...what do you guys think?
*Buys 15k Glads and is poor from now on*

er, if you don't have the 13 str needed to use sent armor, it's pretty damn crappy...didn't you read the description beforehand? you take a fat penalty if you don't have the 13 str.
pretty much the best all around armor set is glads with 1 dmg reduction leg or glove...legion armor is great too if you troll farm since you're constantly in a stance.

Well, i didn't know that -20 AL would affect me that much, and Trolls are easy....

Well I have the Sentinel's Armor and I love it, and it dont effect my builds at all, all I had to do is change the way I applied the runes, as a matter of fact my war is a much better now that I have it, as I am the normally the only guy standing at the end of the fray.
What I like about it the most is that your 100 armor vs elemental and physical attacks not 80 vs elemental then 100 vs physical attacks.

No no no... Sentinals Rocks!... I have 3 words Dolyacks Dolyacks Dolyacks! Do it with 14 Strength. and it is ever so Heavenly.
I think if you think it is useless you are seriously quite narrowminded or just not using it correctly. i mean yeah some times you may not want 13 Strength... so have 2 sets of armor!
because when you are farming anything or tanking Sentinals is just yummy. lol
and if your using it without 13 Strength then your being a bit silly.
Across Both my Warriors i have Gladz 15k on my alt and a set of Dreadnaught and Sentinals on my Main.
And Sentinals is my main set of Armor... When i go back to Tyria and farm i feel like a god. lol
i really like gladz which is why i have 2 main warriors. for gladz and sentinals and i would rate armour over energy im afraid especially with a warrior.
But Sentinals i had huge worrys about it when i first got Factions, i thought it would be utter turd. Turns out i love it! lol
Keep Sentinals Keep Dolyacks... Be Happy.
P.S Sentinals With Knights Boots Btw *nods*

It really depends on what you plan to do with your character. If you are thinking of using it in Pvp (i know you can make a premade but its much more enjoyable for me to use my actual character that I worked hard on in a GvG match than some random thrown together dude) at all, Glads + wep helm+ascalon boots + a pair of stoneskins kicking around is probably your best call.
You can farm eveything in my experience just as well with glads and you don't have to pour all those points in to strength. I'd rather have less there and more available for tactics if I'm stance farming or my weapon. I just haven't encountered anything where that 100 is really needed. So If you don't have the cash or want to use the space for multiple sets of armour then just get the standard glads setup. If you have room and money for more, grab a set of sentinals maybe. I think I might prefer Plate though.

I rather like my Dreadnaughts. No strength requirement. It has 90AL + 10 vs physical. I can see the value of 100AL vs everything, but I tend to go with tactics a bit more than strength. Dreadnaughts with knights boots and a sup abs rune has been working out very well for me.

sentinals armor is actually pretty awesome. youre just using it for the wrong thing.
i personally have these sets: A) weapon helm, knights boots, glads other (this is my main set and can be used for pretty much anything. B) sentinals full set (still debating on whether to add a knights piece for this one)- used in build where i run high str anyway or when i know ill face alot of ele dmg. C) weapon helm + legionaires set (for special farming builds where i know ill be in a stance all the time).
against trolls, gladiators is fine. theyre all melee, so you get 100armor all the time plus you get the extra energy. legionaires would actually give you a lil more armor in this case since youre running glads def and bonettis (or should be) at all times, but its really not necessary. using sentinals against trolls is a big mistake- youre already pointing massive points into tactics, weap attribute, and healing, so theres just no room for 13 str there.
but DONT scrap that sentinals- it can and will come in very handy for you.

Am I just crazy or wasn't Ascalon/Knights 1 piece a glitch that was fixed a while back?.. The reasoning gave was that to receive the -1 benefit...you were supposed to wear the full set..

Yeah well BUY the armor that suits your Warrior Better simple as!
Sentinals is very formidible and why dont you TRY using it as you have bought it, look at the skills, create builds.
I can stil get Tactics to 14 with 14 Strength and have enough swordsmanship.
Its the best armor in my humble oppinion, followed by Gladz and Dreads. but i see the benefits of all of them which is why i have a set of them all.
But having used them all for farming etc, i find sentinals the best by quite a way.
But Enjoy which ever armor u decide to get. But just know that SENTINALS armor is ANYTHING but useless.
Would you really want to use a sword without reaching the Req... No?
... Then why would you ever do that with your armor.
